HVD Riviera Beach

After a walk on the beach, I stopped by the property because I liked it and wanted to look into it for a future trip to Bulgaria. Then a security guard appeared, yelled at me, and even got physical. Luckily, my boyfriend was there. I panicked because I didn't understand what I'd done wrong, and tried to explain that I was just checking the place out for a future vacation. I've never been in such a strange, frightening situation. Is getting physical with people normal in Bulgaria, instead of helping them when they get lost in this huge property? I came close to calling the police, but who wants to ruin their own vacation? It felt so disrespectful. I've never had such a bad experience in Bulgaria.

All the rooms look out over the sea, which is lovely, and the beach is just two minutes from the hotel entrance. There are lots of parking spots. The food had a good range, with options for vegetarians and people who prefer healthier food, without being over the top. I appreciate that they don't waste food just for show like they do in Turkey. The beer was always cold and fresh, the bartenders were young and friendly, and the ice cream was good. Check-in after 15:00 felt very late. It could be at 14:00. I didn't like the leaking toilet, which wasn't working efficiently and wasted a lot of water. That should be fixed. The beach towel hours, 9-11 and 17-19, were too limited for me. And don't complain that towels aren't changed if you leave them hanging. The bathroom instructions say to put them on the floor.

The hotel was really good and everyone was friendly. The entertainment team made our vacation so much fun, they were the best part!

I loved how calm it was at Riviera Beach in Golden Sands, and would like to come back soon. The hotel is on private property, so the beach and grounds are for guests. Every room has a sea view, and the sunrise is a special sight. The restaurant had a fantastic variety, and the food was always warm and fresh. Staff made us feel welcome: rooms stayed clean, reception were kind and ready to sort out problems, and servers and bartenders were friendly and joking around. The animation team were among the friendliest I've met, and their activities were always enjoyable. They really made us feel appreciated. The bar runs from 08:00 to 01:00, with a varied choice of drinks and cocktails. Riviera Beach was bought by the HVD group last year, and the overall quality has improved a lot since then. The rooms are what you'd expect. I'd recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful stay by the Bulgarian Black Sea. The quality felt unusual, in a good way. Keep an eye out for last-minute deals, which could save up to 35% off the original price.
