Marco Polo Hotel

The staff were kind and worked hard to keep us comfortable, and the location made it easy to get around with restaurants nearby. We felt safe during our stay. The building is old, though, and our room wasn’t cleaned daily. The toilet leaked, and the door locks made me uneasy. Dusty AC vents smelled of cigarettes, which could be a problem for anyone with sinus or breathing issues. There’s also a club in the building, and the loud music disturbed rooms at night. We had to ask for an e-kettle, and some basic room necessities were missing. Our stay was just okay, nothing special. I wouldn’t choose it for a family trip. The Suite Room may serve its purpose, but it wasn’t great, and spending all your time in the room probably isn’t ideal.

The bar at the hotel came in handy, and room service was simple and convenient to use. One or two staff members were especially friendly and helpful.

The pool was dirty, with cigarette butts in it, and the gym equipment was damaged. At night the club music carried on until 2 am, so sleeping was impossible. The internet was terrible too. The room felt old and dirty. They seemed to clean it only once before you arrived, with trash still under the bed and tables. What a hotel.

I’ve traveled in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, but ran into several issues here that families should know about. The location didn’t feel suitable for families, and the reception staff didn’t warn us that loud music could disturb us until 3 am. There’s no separate lift for family guests and the music lounge. I also complained to reception, but the manager, who usually sat outside in the hall looking like a guest, seemed completely disconnected from the hotel. They may rent the room next to a family to a single person, which didn’t feel appropriate. There’s more, but these are the main problems.
