The bungalow layout has real potential for a group of 12: five bedrooms and bathrooms, a BBQ area and a private heated pool, all with plenty of privacy. But the execution fell short, and the inside problems outweighed the resort's outdoor amenities, including its multiple pools and weekly activities. For somewhere calling itself a five-star hotel, the maintenance issues were unacceptable. We had no hot water during our stay and had to take cold showers. Water pressure was almost nonexistent in one of the couples' rooms. The bathrooms were visibly worn and had a persistent, unpleasant sewer smell. Getting around takes time. It's 30 minutes to downtown and 45 minutes to the airport, leaving you quite far from the best dining options.

My fiancé and I only used the pool area. The facilities were good quality, and the staff were service minded. There weren't many people around, but we still had to wait for coffee or food, which was the one drawback.

The outdoor area is phenomenal, and the pool is beautiful, though its water temperature isn't controlled, which is worth considering. The hotel itself is great, and Tiquipaya is a win-win location. I found it a little pricey.
