Bash and Crash Hostel

We were allowed to check in really early, which was nice, and the bed was comfortable. The room was okay, but the shared kitchen area felt cramped and dirty, and the bathroom was very dirty and poorly maintained. It could work if you're really strapped for cash, though there are better hostels in La Paz.

I only stayed one night, and people started fighting in the middle of the night, smashing bottles and glasses. Nobody called the police, and there were still traces of blood the next day. The hostel shares its building with a disco club, whose customers, including drunk ones, can come straight into the hostel. There isn't any security service. The facilities were the dirtiest I've seen, and the staff didn't seem to care. There was no breakfast because the person meant to handle it never showed up. A complete failure.

The staff were nice, but this is a party hostel, and smoking is everywhere despite the no smoking sign. There's a bar inside, which can be handy for a cheap drink, but the music and locals make using the bathroom annoying. Sometimes there's no water, and the building looks like parts of it are falling apart. If you can't stand cigarette smoke like I can't, don't go.

The staff are friendly, and for a cheap place it's not too bad. Breakfast is bread with jam and butter. We had internet trouble during our stay, and the Wi-Fi was always having issues. If you're there Friday or Saturday night, be aware that the bar downstairs has live music until 3:00.
