Lion Palace Hostel

We chose it for the good location and spacious rooms, and paid more than at other hotels expecting better. Instead, the staff were unpleasant and didn't seem willing to help. The hot water kept cutting out, and all they said was to wait. Our room was freezing because there were big gaps around the windows, and it was incredibly noisy, like there might be a club upstairs. Breakfast was meant to start at 7:30, so we arrived at 7:35 before our 8 o'clock tour. A staff member rudely told me it wasn't ready and sent us away to wait somewhere else. They shouldn't advertise a start time they can't meet. We missed the breakfast included with our stay, which was another letdown for a pricier hotel.

The only real plus was the convenient location. Our room had a small balcony and windows facing outside, but the building was old and the rooms looked like they had never been restored. The bed was very uncomfortable, and the linens and towels were horrible quality. There was no daily room service, so remember to ask the front desk for fresh towels and toilet paper. The bathrooms looked small and dirty, and smelled from the sink trap. Breakfast was a buffet, but it was one piece of bread per person, fake orange juice, and coffee or tea.

The rooms are comfortable and the location is great. The staff were a big help. Highly recommend it.

It's affordable and very close to the city center.
