Marilay Guest House

Don't stay at this inn. I made a reservation 15 days ahead, but when my husband, son and I arrived, the place had been booked for a family. Nobody had told me, and we were left out on the street with nowhere to stay. Because it was a holiday, all the inns were full. We lost our holiday because the reception communication was so poor. They didn't even have a system to confirm reservations or give us proper information. Zero stars!

They treated me really well, with great manners, and the experience was unforgettable. The room was great, with air conditioning, a luxury hot shower and a comfy bed with a fancy blanket. Breakfast was excellent, and the pool was awesome. There was also an outdoor shower, ping-pong and billiards. Great for taking pictures and posting them, and close to the beaches.

We've been back so many times I've lost count. From our first visit, it felt like home: the place was pleasant, everything was very clean, and the staff were attentive. The first time, the host asked the receptionist to wait for us because work meant we'd arrive after the scheduled time.

The pool is lovely, great for a family or romantic getaway, and there's also a pool table and ping-pong table. The location is convenient and easy to get around from. Still, we had several serious problems. From the first day, the plumbing backed up: the rooms smelled bad, and feces and urine came back up through the shower. It was disgusting and seemed unhygienic. The beds were two singles pushed together, which was uncomfortable. We arranged a tour and planned to leave at 8:30 AM, with breakfast due to start at 8:00, but it wasn't served until 8:20, so we couldn't eat. Breakfast was meager compared with other places I've stayed, with little variety. There were also few usable kitchen utensils, a broken microwave and just one kettle.
