Pousada Porta do Ceu

The view is AMAZING! You can get a great photo from anywhere around the place. The hostel sits on top of the biggest hill in the area, the only one too, which is why its name means “doors sky.” The price is reasonable compared with other hostels and hotels nearby. There are no shared rooms, so it feels more like a nice 3-4 star hotel. Breakfast is generous, with fresh, clean fruit, breads, sausages, cakes, and more. Room service is informal, but that’s just how things are everywhere in Búzios. For what the hostel offers, it’s cheap. If you can spend a little more, I highly recommend the “presidential suit.” It has four spaces: a duplex living room, a bathroom with a hydro, a view, and access to the balcony room, plus the balcony room and bedroom. The bedroom has a PERMANENTLY PANORAMIC VIEW OF TWO SIDES OF BÚZIOS!!! There’s guest service and entrance access 24/7. If you have trouble when you arrive, call the hostel reception and they can help sort things out. They’re empathetic with guests. Don’t plan to stay less than 3 days, it’s too amazing for a quick visit. Try staying just one day and see if you don’t end up spending the rest of your stay here! The views were spectacular, the pool was wonderful, and the pousada’s facilities were really beautiful. Our room looked great too, with a lovely bed. Breakfast was very good and simple overall, but the range of breads, including croissants, was a nice surprise. You don’t usually find that at pousadas. I’d seen lots of praise for the location, but you need a car to get around. I walked to João Fernandes and struggled. The pousada is so high up that you have to stop a few times to catch your breath on the climb. Walking there takes 15 to 20 minutes, while driving takes 5. So the location is a downside if you want to get around on foot, though the height does give you that wonderful view. I thought it was important to mention that you can’t really do anything on foot. The TV in our room was small, just 32 inches, and didn’t match the room’s high standard.
