The beauty and pleasure of visiting the Lençóis Maranhenses fortunately outweighed the problems, but our stay was a troubled one. Getting to the pousada was much harder than we’d been told, and it seemed to have been closed for a while, with a lot still unready when it reopened. The service team had little authority and struggled to take action. Our shower drain stayed clogged for the entire stay. The owner was in another state and only replied to messages in writing, offering excuses and explanations without showing real concern for guests. Other guests seemed to share that impression.

A very good pousada in Atins, with attentive service from Lili and Isaquias. Menu items are expensive, though that seemed to be a common impression of the town.
