Pousada Sossego da Pampulha

We always choose this well-located inn for shows and events. It’s a five-minute walk from Mineirão. The rooms are simple, the service is good, and the staff are really attentive.

The stay was great. The inn is in a quiet, upscale area, close to Lagoa da Pampulha, Mineirão and mineirinho. My room was clean, the shower had plenty of hot water, and the minibar and air conditioning both worked well. The hair dryer was good too, and the Wi-Fi stayed fast without dropping or freezing. Breakfast was delicious, varied and thoughtfully prepared, with food replenished quickly. The staff were polite and helpful. Suely even kindly helped me carry my very heavy suitcase downstairs. I traveled alone and felt completely safe. I recommend it and would come back. Thank you!

The big draw is how close the inn is to Mineirão, and I would stay there again for that reason. The rooms are a good size, the bed is comfortable, and the modern minibar and air conditioner are quiet and cool the room well. There are some practical drawbacks. There’s no elevator, and the stairway is narrow enough that you can’t carry two suitcases up at once. The bathroom is tiny, with very little room to move even for one person. The breakfast is basic, and I wouldn’t count on the parking: it’s first come, first served, and one car can block all the others. The Master rooms are supposed to include access to the pool and sauna, but both were under maintenance. Also, if it’s your birthday, there’s no perk or courtesy at all, not even a small chocolate. Given the prices, I’m not sure it’s the best value, though the Mineirão location makes a difference.

Being able to walk easily to an event at Mineirão is a real plus. The rest of my stay was disappointing. My room, in the building near the garage, smelled like sewage. The bedding was very limited, just a small, rough sheet for a double bed. The shower was awful, with no pressure and water jets spraying in all directions. I don’t recommend it.
