Pousada Piuco

The view was wonderful, but that was about the only good part. The room was filthy, as if it had been closed for a long time and never cleaned: cobwebs, dead insect pieces on the ceiling and walls, dust on the floor, a soap under the bed, and a bitten piece of cookie in a drawer. The electric shower had very little water pressure. Huge spiders came into the room and walked across the bed and bedside table on both nights. I managed to catch them the first night, but more appeared the next, and we decided to leave early. The person in charge was never around and didn’t answer messages. They didn’t even introduce themselves when we arrived or show us the room. Breakfast was very basic, things were just thrown onto the table, and the dining area was dirty too. There was also noise from other rooms and the common room. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend it at all.

The room is very spacious, as are the other areas of the pousada, and breakfast was good with a lovely view. But it felt very expensive for what was offered. When we arrived exhausted from the trip, we couldn’t nap because the cleaning was so noisy, with a squeegee falling, a bucket being dragged, and doors banging repeatedly. The shower is heated by the sun, but there wasn’t much sun that day, so we were told to switch it to hot. The water still didn’t heat up, came out unevenly, and made showering nearly impossible. The walls have no sound insulation.

A couple handles check-in and check-out, and they’re very attentive. They leave coffee, tea, and cookies in the kitchen for guests to help themselves to during the day or late at night. The place is secluded and far away, with wonderful quiet and a great view. The dogs are obedient and adorable, and make a great alarm system for the property. There aren’t any smart TVs, but with so many wineries to visit, you don’t really need one.

The room was clean and great, and breakfast was simple but tasty, with excellent cheese and salami. I booked on Agoda, where it said only one room was available, a room for four people. There were actually many more rooms, so I think I paid more because of that. The person in charge didn’t seem very familiar with technology. Wi-Fi didn’t reach my room, so I had to go to the door whenever I wanted to use it. Still, it’s a good option for visiting Parque Gasper.
