Pousada da Gibinha

The inn was very good. We just didn’t catch many fish in the river. Maybe the owners could stock it with more bait.

The breakfast was tasty and more than adequate, and the shower was great. The room and bathroom were basic but clean, though I did miss having somewhere to hang clothes. Taís was very friendly and did her best to make guests feel at home. The photos on the inn’s website match the place well, which is pleasant and welcoming. Room cleaning is only done if you ask for it. I stayed during a very cold spell, with temperatures dropping to 4 degrees. There’s no glass in the bedroom door, so it got very cold overnight. I asked for a sheet to block the draft and they brought one without any trouble. It helped, but didn’t solve it, and I ended up sleeping under several blankets. Breakfast is served in an open-sided shelter with no protection from the cold, so I had to eat bundled up too. If I’d stayed in warmer weather, I’d certainly have given the inn five stars. I recommend the place.

There’s lots of greenery around this peaceful retreat near the town entrance. You can walk over to Ilha Pub, the family restaurant, for tasty snacks and a menu of beers and cocktails. Sra Helenice and her late husband, Sr Gilberto, built the place, which has rooms with private bathrooms or a chalet, a pool, and a really nice breakfast with red berry juice, cakes, and fruit. Sra Gibinha’s daughter also offers spa services using natural products she develops herself. You can arrange special surprises for important dates, such as massages or soap gift sets.

There’s plenty of nature and fresh air here, and it’s so peaceful. Dona Gibinha is lovely and helpful. Sitting with her over a coffee and a good chat was a treat. Her daughter Taís was very helpful too. The breakfast was fresh and complete. Ilha Pub, run by Dona Gibinha’s son, is right beside the inn. It’s a great spot with fair prices, good burgers, appetizers, and drinks. Bring insect repellent since the inn is by the river, where you can fish at no cost. There are mosquitoes and biting gnats, but that comes with being in nature. We came by motorcycle and found the road easy. It’s a charming, peaceful place, and I’ll be back again.
