Mato Grosso Palace Hotel

The room was fine, and breakfast was great, but getting to the airport turned into a stressful mess. We asked reception the night before to book a taxi for the morning. When it didn't show, they arranged another driver, but said we'd have to wait ten more minutes. There were taxis right outside, yet the staff kept insisting their car would arrive soon. We'd already followed their advice on timing, too: they said arriving just 40 minutes before departure was fine because the ride takes 15 minutes, even though that's much later than the official recommendation. We lost more time waiting, then ran up the street to catch a city taxi. It cost 31 reais, half the 60 reais the hotel taxi was quoted at. A staff member on guard outside did help, but reception didn't seem to grasp how urgent it was. We got through security just as they were calling our names for last call. The other passengers, including locals, were already aboard, so I'm not sure that advice on when to arrive was sound.

Good value for what you pay.

The rooms were dirty, and the staff were shockingly rude and unprofessional. The hotels down the street were better. I regret giving this place a chance.

The people working there tried to make us comfortable, which was nice, but the building is old and needs updating. The location wasn't great either, and walking around at night didn't feel very safe. Aside from that, it was an okay stay.
