The people were good, and the service was good too!

I stayed for three days, and they didn't change the trash or the bed linens. Breakfast was served somewhere else, and it seemed to me they weren't prepared for that many people.

The mattresses were the worst part, very thin, worn out, and uncomfortable to sleep on. The rooms are basic rather than apartments, with only a small fridge. Ours had frayed wiring and kept shutting off. The TV isn't a smart TV, and the Wi-Fi didn't work at all. There's no hairdryer, though there is an electric kettle and a shared microwave. The place was quiet and clean enough, but maintenance overall was poor. The location is okay, about four blocks from the beach. With full board, meals are at Hotel Fish, two and a half blocks away, which isn't convenient if you want everything close by. The food tasted good, but there wasn't much variety. Dinner is served from 8 to 10 pm, which feels early for a vacation, and breakfast runs from 7 to 10 am, though it could start earlier for people taking early excursions. Several basics need attention for the stay to feel worth the price.

The breakfast and the staff at Hotel Fish deserve a 10. That's where check-in and checkout happen too, but we were placed at Pousada Don Albert, two blocks away. The gate uses a code, but the security felt weak, and my husband and I found it open several times. We stayed from 16/10 to 26/10, after planning these holidays all year, and ran into problems throughout. The mattress was hard, torn, dirty, and stained, so we couldn't get proper rest. The TV only had regular broadcast channels and the Wi-Fi signal was so-so. The fridge outlet was shorting, and we asked them to fix it. Cockroaches kept appearing in the bathroom at night. The door latch was already in bad shape and then broke, leaving us locked out of the room. With preventive maintenance, that could have been avoided. It also kept the staff from getting in to clean and replace the sheets and towels. I wouldn't stay there again or recommend it. Cheap can end up costing you. We weren't looking for luxury, just the basics done properly.
