Spa Hostel Villa Morena

I wish I'd checked the reviews before booking. This place leaves a lot to be desired, and the owners are incredibly rude. The house smelled strongly of damp when I arrived. Upstairs, the bedrooms were filthy, with dirty mattresses and unwashed sheets. The floors were dirty too, and the bathrooms offered no privacy. It was a horrible experience in a damp, musty-smelling place. I wouldn't recommend it, especially at a price like this, as if it were a three-room apartment.

I found the stay far more enriching than I expected. Being surrounded by nature made the experience feel truly transformative. Flavia and Bira were exceptionally welcoming, and our conversations were very useful. They also helped me understand more deeply what the pousada is trying to do around sustainability and caring for the environment. Anyone who loves nature and wants a welcoming, sustainable place should visit and enjoy what it offers.

The sheets were dirty, the owner wouldn't accept criticism, and her son, who I believe is the guy running things, was arrogant and rude. It was the most frustrating lodging experience of my life. They call the place rustic, but to me it was just an unfinished house. Don't pay anything in advance. Visit first, before making any payment. This place shouldn't be offering lodging at all, and I don't recommend it, not even a hundred thousand times over. P.S. If the owner claims I owed money or anything like that, I have the Booking.com receipt and photos we took there.

I gave up on my planned month-long stay, though I paid for every day I was there and left owing nothing. My conscience is clear. I have to rethink whether these people should be running a hotel at all. I was subjected to moral harassment, including an attempt to damage my reputation with my employer. I have evidence, and I reported it to the police. I would never have stayed if I had read the Google reviews, which match what I experienced at what they call a pousada. They advertise lots of spaces, but guests can only use the outdoor area unless they pay to enter the house. That was never mentioned during booking. The outdoor kitchen and bathroom are both very poor: the bathroom is tiny and moldy, the kitchen has moldy spices and is missing utensils. The rooms are dusty and moldy, with an old mattress and a poor-quality blanket. The gym costs as much as Smart Fit, but you can use only one machine. They ask whether you're arriving by car or motorcycle, but don't tell you there's no parking. They sell something that isn't what it seems and won't even make “CASA DA LINDA FAMÍLIA” available. The story changes constantly, and they fly off the handle over supposed “rules” that seem to exist only in their heads. They kept moving me between rooms. Do they scold every guest as if we're their children? That kind of behavior would be better directed at their own son. He has no sense: he speaks loudly, eats in his room even though guests aren't allowed to, uses foul language, and doesn't greet the guests. I PAID to stay there. I wasn't there for free. The least they could do is treat people with more empathy and respect. They only pretend to be good vibes, affectionate, and kind. That lasts the first day, then the act drops and it all feels FAKE! They have no professionalism.
