Apartamento na Praia Futuro

We came to this pousada with our Shitzu in August this year because she needed to see a veterinary nephrologist. We left with both of our dogs needing care, and a lot of stress from the stay. There was a dog at reception, behind an aluminum gate beside the stairs. We saw no warning sign that it might attack, and the gate had only a latch, with no safety lock. After the incident, the owner said there had been a sign and the gate had a safety lock, but our photos and video show otherwise. The owner's mother said there were witnesses who had told us the dog was aggressive. I don't remember being warned, but even if we had been, shouldn't a guest's well-being and consumer rights matter? When we came back from the Shitzu's appointments, I was bringing my dogs in on leashes. Near the stairs, the dog pushed through the gate and attacked our other dog, a Pinscher mixed with a sausage dog. The owner's mother said I should have carried our dog and claimed she had gone inside the other dog's gate. That was absurd. We had to take our dog to a 24-hour hospital. I have all the reports and test results. She needed X-rays and an ultrasound to check for organ damage. We had arrived with one sick dog and ended up with both of them needing a vet by the time we got to Tianguá, after they started vomiting. We think that may have been from stress. I contacted the owner, who said she would review the cameras, while her mother kept trying to blame us and saying there were witnesses. We wanted at least to be reimbursed for the expenses, which were over 900 reais. After waiting a week, we contacted a lawyer, but the mother's behavior was so unpleasant and stressful that we decided to drop the case. Maybe the owner, who is a businesswoman, lawyer, and university professor, needed the money more than we did. By now, perhaps they've added a sign about the dog and proper locks. What upset us most was being blamed throughout and being told there were witnesses. This is a brief, truthful account of a very difficult time, when we were unfairly treated as if our word didn't count.

The pousada was spotless, organized, and just as it looked in the photos. The service was excellent, and it's only a block from the beach. Its two lovely, friendly dogs were the best hosts. We had a perfect stay, and I'd recommend the place. I'll come back again.

The owner welcomed us warmly and gave us great tips on restaurants and places to see in Fortaleza. The pousada was peaceful, clean, and pretty, just what we had hoped for during Carnival. We've already booked another stay for our July vacation.

La na praia! is 200 meters from Praia do Futuro, where you can sometimes surf or kitesurf. The hostel is really clean and has great facilities, and breakfast comes with fruit, sausages in tomato sauce, yogurt, cake, ham, cheese, bread, and smoothies. Carlos, the owner, knows Fortaleza and can give you great ideas for things to do. About 100 meters from the hostel, Silvia makes a very generous, tasty lunch for 10 reais. I fell in love with her food. If you don't want to take an Uber, you can ride public buses for $3.60 to Beira-mar and enjoy the central beaches. I recommend this place!
