Concept Design Hostel & Suite

I enjoyed my stay. The location was good, the place was clean, and the staff were friendly. The Wi-Fi wasn’t great for work and sometimes stopped working. There was only one power outlet on the tables for charging devices.

I didn’t end up staying at this hostel. When I checked the bed, there was a bed bug on the sheet. Reception apologized and offered a refund straight away, but didn’t seem to take it very seriously. They just closed off that bed in a room with other people.

The beds were good, and the pool was nice. Breakfast was great too. The AC only ran at night, though, and the upper bunks didn’t cool down at all. You could really feel how much cooler the lower beds were. The owner was rude and yelled at guests. She shouted at one of the girls and at me because the door had been left slightly open while the AC was on. Sorry, that wasn’t intentional. She also yelled at us for not speaking Portuguese. I understand it, but can’t speak it, so I guess she thought we wouldn’t notice when she interrupted staff who were trying to help with tips or a taxi and reminded them to add a commission. The rest of the staff were okay, and one of the women even contacted us afterward to apologize for the owner’s behavior.

The receptionists were friendly, and breakfast was generous and nice. We stayed three nights and knew what to expect from a hostel, but some things still need investment. The kitchen sink only had cold water, which I don’t think is enough to clean dishes and grease properly. Just look at the cooking pots. The bedding bothered me most. The sheet had stains and didn’t look changed, so we had to call reception to get it replaced. There was mold all over the walls, and the internet was unbelievably weak, like 1G. Even the reception had a poor signal.
