I came back at night planning to sleep, but found the bathroom was outside the room and there were little cockroaches crawling on the bed. I grabbed my things and went to sleep in a motel. Earlier, the “receptionist” had called me “pai” and was dressed in flip-flops, a team shirt, and shorts. When I asked about parking, he told me check-in was at 3 pm. I asked again, and then he said parking costs extra or I could leave the car on the street. It’s like a sewer with a bed in it. Value your trip and find somewhere decent, with professional service. There are places for the same price that are 20 times better.

I picked the cheaper room with a fan and no air conditioning because I only needed somewhere to sleep while visiting this tourist city. It worked out fine, and the bathroom was shared, though only one person uses it at a time. The pousada has a huge, really nice pool, and there’s a convenience counter at reception with cold beer and great service. I saw they had bigger rooms with air conditioning too. I recommend it.

I went to Foz do Iguaçu for a fun trip in December 2024 and booked this pousada through Booking after seeing what looked like a beautiful, well-equipped place. What I got was a terrifying start to my vacation. They put me in an attic room in a chalet, with a termite-eaten floor, stained walls, and a folding door that didn’t lock. There was no wardrobe, so my belongings were left exposed. The upstairs bathroom was filthy and had a broken toilet, the fridge had no room for anything, and the room was unbearably hot. They wouldn’t let me cancel or refund my money after I spent one night there. Don’t be fooled by the castle, which only has two rooms and is next to the attic. Think carefully before booking this “hotel.”

Only stay here if your budget is extremely tight and comfort doesn’t matter to you. The room is tiny, the kitchen and bathroom are shared, there’s no accessibility, breakfast, or air conditioning, just a fan, and it gets very hot. The location is good, near the center and supermarket, and the cleanliness is acceptable.

The price and location were good, and Dona Mirian was very welcoming. She seemed to be carrying the whole inn on her shoulders, despite her physical limitations, and the owners should take better care of her. It's an old, large house turned into a guesthouse, so don't expect anything fancy. I stayed in the attic, knowing it would be basic, almost like a capsule, and have no air conditioning. But it gets so hot that you can't spend the day in the room. Next time in Foz, I'd pay for a bigger room with air conditioning and more comfort, so I can rest better after the outings.
