The location is excellent, close to the sea, the square, and the historic center church, with good facilities nearby. There’s free covered private parking, and breakfast is included. The service was very kind, and the breakfast was good with the basics, including a view of the sea from some tables. It could use sneeze guards and refrigeration at the buffet. For the price, I think the value is reasonable for one person and good for two. Room prices were R$250 and R$350, depending on the apartment. The apartments have ceiling fans, a TV, and an empty minibar, and some also have wall air conditioning installed in a very awkward spot. There’s no special single-person rate, which I think is unfair, since you pay the same apartment price whether there are two, three, four, or five people. The wardrobes are open but have hangers. The Wi-Fi signal was terrible, so I didn’t use it. The bathroom has an electric shower but no bidet spray, and the amenities are just two little bars of soap. There’s no hair dryer. My apartment had a balcony with a side view and two plastic chairs. The room didn’t have enough outlets, and their placement was poor. The light switches were badly positioned too. The room blocked sunlight well but had poor sound insulation. The keys are old and have to be picked up and left at reception.

The location across from the square is pleasant, and you can see the sea from the breakfast area. Breakfast was adequate, with everything you need. Ice and hot water are available around the clock, and rooms are cleaned every morning. The hotel is fine. The rooms have minibars and hot water, handy for a quick shower before heading back out to explore the neighborhood.

The hotel is spacious, with a huge and pleasant common area. The breakfast room is bright and airy, with lots of seats, some overlooking the square, beach, and steps of the famous church. The view is spoiled by the embarrassing number of cars parked there. It’s a historic square and church in a historic tourist area, and parking should be banned there at least in high season. This was our first time at Hotel Garopaba, and we liked it. We had a simple, small room in the second building. It was cleaned daily, and the room and bathroom were in good shape. The bed was good, the lighting was good, and the room got plenty of sunlight. The shower was fine. The old wardrobe, old mirrored dressing table, small bedside table, and old, noisy minibar were all usable, and the minibar worked well. There were average plastic chairs, and we didn’t use the TV, though it seemed good. The balcony was nice, but it faced the busy hotel garage entrance and exit, which was normal enough. There’s also an outdoor shower for coming back from the beach. Staff service was fine. Breakfast was simple and didn’t match the website photos, but it was good. The coffee was well brewed, there was a variety of breads, and the cold cuts were just ham and cheese. The cakes were ordinary overall, though the lemon and chocolate ones were excellent. The fruit was always fresh and good. We didn’t try the jams, butter, and other items, but they looked fine. Everything was clean.
