That sign in Portuguese on the steep hill up to the hotel, roughly saying that anything worth having is hard to get, pretty much captures the place. Walking up and down with a backpack and surfboard is a serious climb, but the views from the top are absolutely breathtaking. This is where I'd come for peaceful energy and nature. It's a 10-15 minute walk to one of the best waves in the world or to the really cool town of Garopaba. Couldn't ask for a better location. It's definitely rustic, so leave the high maintenance girlfriend at home and bring the wife who can cook. The rooms have fully working kitchens with dining gear, and there's always a coffee maker with complimentary coffee. The host, Gabriela, is incredibly helpful and flexible with whatever you may need. During the busiest week of the year, she went above and beyond trying to sort out my logistical hurdles. I'll be back for sure!

The standout for us was the view from the living room and bedroom in chalé Andorinhas. It was spectacular, and the quiet made the place feel so peaceful. The chalés are also very well equipped, with a full kitchen and quality appliances like Brastemp and Oster, plus beach chairs and a sun umbrella. The showers are good, the air conditioning works, and the Wi-Fi is fast with a good connection. There are plenty of cable TV channels too. If you don't know the area, having a car is a good idea. A Silveira is close to busy Garopaba, especially in summer and on long weekends, but the area itself is quite hilly.
