Bela Casa Ilha Grande

The hostel is perfect, so please ignore Jack’s vile comments about it. Jack was my roommate that night, and as the hostel has said, he brought a woman back. He seemed to think that was normal. When I questioned it, he told me, “She’s my girlfriend.” It’s worrying to have people like Jack in dormitories. After he left, many of my things were missing. I can’t accuse him, of course, but it was very odd. I found some things in the rubbish bin and never found the rest.

The owner, or dueña, was really nice and helpful. She did ask me to pay 25R to store my things for a few hours before I left. I understand it’s company policy, but I ended up leaving my stuff at my first hostel, Lila Limao, for free. My friend and I got lost twice trying to find this place, so don’t trust the Hostelworld maps. Google Maps made it much easier.

I arrived at 1pm, an hour before the expected 3pm check-in, and had a terrible experience with the owner. They wanted to charge me for the previous night because I was checking in “early.” When I refused, they threatened to call the police and report me for trespassing. This place on Ilha Grande seems dodgy. Look elsewhere.

It’s a cheap hostel, so don’t expect anything fancy. For the price, the service was amazing. They do their best to keep everything clean. I stayed two nights, and they sent someone to tidy my room between the first and second night. Whether that’s good or annoying is up to you. The employees were nice, especially Angela, who was in charge when I arrived. She was really sweet and helpful.
