The BBQ area was the highlight for our group, since we love a good barbecue. We booked through Airbnb and check-in went smoothly. A great place to stay with a group!

Luis made me feel at home straight away, helped me a lot, and put on a great breakfast. The rooms were spotless and more comfortable than my own home. This is probably the nicest and cleanest hostel I've stayed in anywhere. It costs more than most hostels and has quite a few rules, but they seem fair, and the guests felt a bit more upmarket and interesting. I never felt the owners were trying to get extra money out of me. Luis actually helped me save loads on a trip. It's not a party hostel, but I felt so welcome. A lovely finishing touch to the paradise that is Ilha grande. What an awesome place!

We stayed at Marlin Hostel for three nights. The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was really nice. It's a good base for jungle hikes, close to lots of good places to eat, and you can walk to many beaches. They only have dorms, so couples or anyone wanting privacy won't find that here. There are no room keys, but they have a security man watching the house 24 hours, and we felt safe even without locking our room. Marlin Hostel is a very good place to stay on ilha grande.

We had an amazing time. Mario was really helpful, and the place was super clean, definitely the cleanest on the island.
