I don't recommend this pousada. Its location is great, very close to the pier, and Amanda at reception gave us several tips for outings. But our stay was a poor experience. We started in room 16, which was awful. It had a portable air conditioner that took almost all day to cool the room. We put up with that, but by late afternoon there was an unbearable sewage smell. Another receptionist said it came from the mangrove behind the pousada. The breakfast room was also close to the mangrove, though, and we couldn't smell it there. I felt misled. We refused to stay in that terrible room, and the only solution they offered was to move us the next day. Because the pousada was full, we had to switch rooms each day. The other rooms were good. Even though management knew about the sewage smell in room 16, they kept renting it out. It was offered to a friend who wanted to stay a few more days on the island. I found that disrespectful to guests, since they should have stopped renting it until the issue was fixed. Management didn't come to apologize until the last day, and only after we went to speak with the owner, who said she was working on the smell problem. Breakfast was very basic and food wasn't replenished. The Wi-Fi worked on just one of our five days. I didn't feel cared for or welcome. I want to return to Ilha Grande, but I wouldn't stay here again.
