Pousada Fazenda Rio das Pedras

The grounds are beautifully kept, with a lovely view out to the surrounding nature. Breakfast came straight to the table with plenty of choices, and the staff were helpful whenever we needed them. They were flexible about the rules, too: the heated pool usually opened after 3 p.m. on certain days, but they let us use it at 10 a.m. when more guests were around. A great pousada.

We got good value for what we paid, and I liked our room with the whirlpool. I’d stay here again, though some upkeep is needed. The curtains were faded and shabby, there was persistent dampness in the bathroom, and on our last day we noticed the toilet was leaking. The heated pool and sauna area looked neglected and as if they weren’t being used. Breakfast was decent, and having firewood available without limit was a nice touch from the management.

We stayed with the family over the weekend, and the place felt spacious and well looked after, surrounded by nature. Breakfast was fresh, with lots of choices, and served at our table. Our room had a rustic style that suited the setting, and the shower had lovely hot water. It’s about 15 minutes from the little center, where there are restaurants and shops. We went to Cachoeira do Escorrega and had lunch there, then visited Cachoeira Santa Clara along the same route. It’s a good spot for kids, and my daughters loved it. There aren’t any restaurants there, though, so I’d go after lunch. I’d definitely come back.

The only things I missed were a place to get lunch or dinner and a better road for the last 1 km on dirt. Otherwise, it was perfect. The facilities are great, the service is first-rate, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. There’s a pool, a sauna, and a heated pool, plus a tasty, filling breakfast. Highly recommend it.
