Pousada Vale das Flores

There were hardly any breakfast choices, and we couldn’t reach the emergency number we’d been given. The room felt like a makeshift accommodation, with a dirty floor and lots of dust along the side of the bed. The bed hadn’t been made properly and looked as if someone had been lying in it. The bathroom drain smelled bad, and we found a cockroach.

The outdoor area was a highlight, with a pool and space to relax and slow down. The whole place felt peaceful, tidy and welcoming, and the staff were polite, helpful and attentive. Our room was clean, comfortable and well cared for, just right for a restful stay. Pousada Vale das Flores delivered what it promised, and I’d gladly return. I recommend it to anyone looking for comfort and peace in Penedo.

I really enjoyed the stay. The owners are friendly, and there’s plenty of nature around, with birds singing in the morning. The rooms are spacious, and the pool is pretty. It’s quiet but still close to central Penedo. The room had Wi-Fi, a minibar, air conditioning and a smart TV. Breakfast was good, though I missed having scrambled eggs. One thought for the pool area: matching tables and chairs, with an umbrella at each table, would make it look more coordinated. There’s also a good covered space near the pool that could perhaps fit a pool table and foosball table, with tokens for sale.

It’s a shame, because the place is beautiful and well located, and the people who helped us were really nice. Still, the issues we ran into mean I wouldn’t return or recommend it. The initial service was very good, the best part of the stay. The chalet looked lovely but wasn’t comfortable or clean enough. The bed was awful, one of those spring mattresses you feel all night, and it looked dirty. When I moved it to look for a lost bracelet, I found a cockroach, several disposable cups and plastic bottles left by another guest. There was nowhere in the bathroom to set soap or shampoo, an easy thing to fix. The old air conditioner worked well. Saturday’s breakfast was fair, but on Sunday there was no coffee until I asked for it, and at 9:30 there was almost nothing to eat.
