We booked through a travel agency, but the stay has been a letdown. The room smelled strongly of damp, and there was mold on the walls and in the bathroom, where the grout had gone dark. Surfaces were sticky, probably from food, and there was residue left by the previous guest. The towels were worn out, and the sheets had stains.

We'd stayed at Afford a few times before and always liked it, so this visit was a real disappointment. We wanted a comfortable trip to rest, but ended up using the hotel only to sleep. The room was old and poorly finished, with an old air conditioner surrounded by mold, a broken window, and outlets that didn't work. One outlet was right above the pillow, which felt dangerous. I couldn't book online the night before, so I contacted them on WhatsApp and said it would be two adults and a baby. They gave me a price, and since it matched what I'd seen online, I booked without asking more. At check-in, I asked whether there were different room types. The receptionist asked if I'd been told this was the economy room. I hadn't, and nobody offered another option. The hotel wasn't full, either. It felt disrespectful to put us in the worst room when they knew we had a baby. For the price, which didn't seem different from the nicer rooms I'd seen online, I don't think the hotel should even have a room like that tarnishing its reputation. It's a shame because I used to recommend Afford and really liked it. This stay completely disappointed me.
