We spent five days here, and the comments I had seen didn't match our experience. For a 3- or 4-star hotel, the welcome from reception through housekeeping was good, and all the staff were friendly. Of course, we can't expect five-star service where it isn't a five-star hotel. There were lots of breakfast choices, and it was very tasty. Our room was always clean and tidy, with towels available according to the hotel's replacement schedule. The air conditioning worked throughout, and the bed was comfortable. For a vacation, the room met our needs well for showers after outings and beach trips, and for a good night's sleep with the air conditioning working and the comfortable bed.

We booked through CVC and stayed at Happy Hotel Pajuçara for seven days. It was an extremely unpleasant experience because the hotel is in poor condition. At reception there was only one employee to help guests. We waited more than an hour to check in because he wasn't at the hotel. We were told he was at lunch and wouldn't return until 14:00, so we waited in a reception area with no air conditioning. There was no one to help with bags, just a fend-for-yourself situation. Our room had moldy walls and no wardrobe, so our clothes had to be left on the spare bed. The bathroom was cramped, with a shower stall barely big enough for one person and no door, so every shower flooded the room. There was no ventilation, and the flush tank broke three times. We called maintenance, but the technician only showed up 24 hours later. If my husband hadn't fixed it, we wouldn't have been able to use the toilet. The elevators were in poor shape too. One broke while we were there, and unless you hold the door, it slams shut hard enough to wake nearby guests. The towels were only changed every three days. If you wanted more, you had to ask for extras and hope someone brought them. The sheets were dingy and yellowed, with a strange smell. We asked for a comforter and got a tiny one that only covered our feet. Breakfast was awful, with little variety in fruit or bread, just small water rolls that felt rubbery or sliced bread. The only cold cuts were ham and cheese, when they were available. Replacing items like milk and coffee took ages, a real test of patience. After breakfast the restaurant closed, so you couldn't even get hot water. The hotel didn't provide beach chairs or an umbrella. The pool was tiny and dirty. At night there was only a doorman, so if you needed something like toilet paper, you had to wait for the next day's housekeeper. On departure day, after checking out at 12:00, we had to wait in that hot, airless reception until our airport departure around 16:00. If I had to rate it, I'd give it below zero. Stay away from this hotel!

The location is good, there's plenty of nearby shops, and the staff are very polite, kind, and friendly. Breakfast was very good too, especially the tapiocas made to order. But the room comfort was a major letdown during our seven-day stay with our two daughters. On the first day, we noticed the shower was broken. Reception told us nobody was available to fix it, and there was no other room. They suggested we shower in a different room and then come back to ours. We refused, but ended up taking cold showers for all seven days. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, with springs sticking out. The rooms are old and have some mold, and there's no shower enclosure, so turning on the shower floods the bathroom. The employees were very courteous, but couldn't do anything about it.
