Hostel Central Maragogi

The location is great, and the bath towels were very clean and white. But the rest of the place was in rough shape. There was a strong urine smell at the entrance, the room shower was broken, and the shower curtain was covered in mold. I don't think the AC had ever been cleaned. The sheet had a burn hole, the bedside table was coming apart, and the kitchen window was dirty. There were cracks in the floor and walls, plus cobwebs in the kitchen and bedroom. The microwave wiring was a dangerous makeshift setup. Upstairs, shower water seemed to run straight behind the kitchen wall; I couldn't tell if the pipe was broken or there was no sewage pipe. I couldn't find a fire extinguisher either. The owner never came by. When the receptionist had a day off, we were completely alone, and there was no cleaning staff. The white kitchen table and chair were grimy, and the soaking cloths in the laundry tub already smelled bad. I also accidentally paid for one extra night and still haven't been refunded. Hopefully that money goes toward hiring someone to clean.

The location is really convenient, close to the waterfront with everything nearby. The place was clean, but the spiral wooden stairs to the top floor need better upkeep and felt unsafe to me. Also, hardly any water came out of the top floor shower.

I had a good stay. My room and the bathroom were clean, and the kitchen was fully equipped. There was air conditioning too. The location was very convenient, with everything across the street and the beach close by. The one catch is that breakfast isn't provided, even though Google says it is.

I had to cancel my reservation, and the person in charge said the refund would be issued within 30 days. It still hasn't arrived, and she hasn't answered my calls or messages. I had to take further steps. A terrible experience.
