Sunbrazil Hotel – Antigo Hotel Terra Brasilis

The breakfast was plentiful, the pool was clean, and both lunch and dinner were great. The hotel grounds also have a beautiful view. The little boat photo is lovely too, definitely worth taking. The rooms smelled moldy, and we had three cockroaches in ours. There’s nowhere to hang wet clothes. The air conditioners in the rooms and reception looked like they’d never been cleaned, and the juice machine was so dirty I didn’t feel like drinking the juice. The place is very old and needs paint. The elevator is scary, too. Someone with a lot of money needs to take this place on and get it back into shape. Please clean the juice machine, and try to clean the oyster area every couple of days because the water gets filthy.

The location is a 10 out of 10, and the setting itself is nice, but the pagode was extremely loud. The food was disappointing for the high prices, and service from the staff overall was a 2 out of 10. I’d rate the food 4 out of 10. I came with my family for lunch on 16/02/2026. It was packed, but we found a table and ordered. We asked the bartender to put in our meal order. About an hour later, the starter arrived without one of the sides for the crabs. The bartender went to fetch it, even though it wasn’t his responsibility. We told the waiter, who just ignored us and kept walking past our table. Another 50 minutes to an hour passed before the main order came. The bartender went to the kitchen himself to get it. I’d ordered meat with coalho cheese, but for 70 reais the dish felt like bar food: black beans, white rice, a few pieces of cassava, some meat, and exactly one slice of coalho cheese. The juice was great. Thanks to the bartender for all the effort, even though it wasn’t his job. I would’ve given him the 10% tip, but since it would have gone to the whole team, I asked for it to be removed. Great location, terrible service, and prices way too high for what you get.

We ended up leaving that night in a rush to find somewhere else to stay. It was a really frustrating and disappointing experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. When we arrived, another couple was already complaining that their direct reservation hadn’t matched what the hotel provided. Our first impression was bad too: the place looked badly neglected and urgently in need of cleaning and maintenance. Reception didn’t help, as the staff seemed unprepared to deal with guests. The air conditioning in our room also didn’t work, and there was nobody available to repair or maintain it that day.

There were cockroaches in the rooms, and the food was awful. On our last night, 19/02/2026, my husband and I ate at the hotel restaurant. I ordered the carne de sol from the menu. It was swimming in oil, and the meat was completely raw. As soon as I got back to the room, I started feeling really sick. The next day I threw up everything I’d eaten. I believe the food was contaminated, and I got food poisoning. I had to make the trip home while still sick. Just remembering our hotel experience makes me feel awful.
