Hotel Abrolhos

Great.

The fridge had problems from the start, and there were clogs during our stay. On the third day, sewage came back up inside the room, so we had to rush out carrying our things. A nightmare. The old air conditioner was noisy, and you can’t count on the fridge. Breakfast was very basic.

Hotel Abrolhos is on Nova Viçosa’s main avenue, away from much of the center’s noise but close to the nice beach spot at praia do Pau Fincado. That was the only good part of my stay. The room had an old, poorly working air conditioner, an old TV with few options, a bad, noisy bed, dim lighting and an old fridge. The bathroom was passable, but the water was dirty and yellowish. The hotel gate stayed open because the sea air had damaged it, so it didn’t feel secure. The pool was okay and breakfast was good. Payment was only by pix, debit or credit card, and splitting the payment came with high interest. I don’t recommend it.

It’s quiet, with air-conditioned apartments and parking right outside the room. The hotel is spacious and has a pool, sauna and a good breakfast. It’s clean, feels safe and works well for families with children. The beach is almost straight across, about a 100 m walk. This isn’t a luxury or boutique stay, and the Wi-Fi is weak. The game room could use an update, but nothing there seriously affected our stay or the good value for money.
