Pousada Beco da Lua

Too good.

The rental wasn’t worth it. There was a strong smell of mold and dust in the room, signs of water infiltration, poor upkeep, and a generally neglected appearance. The space was extremely small and unsuitable for five people to stay comfortably, despite that being the number listed in the reservation. When I reported the issues, the owner was dismissive and played them down, saying the conditions were “consistent with the amount paid,” even though the nightly rate was high. This went beyond being basic. The place felt run-down and uncomfortable, and what we found clearly didn’t match the listing. There was also unfinished construction left exposed, moths on the outside wall, and several signs of structural deterioration.

The pool was really, really good and kept at a comfortable temperature, around 28-30°, despite being outdoors. Breakfast was good too, nothing fancy, but tasty and made well, with the main options you’d find at most hotels. There were a few more choices on busier days. Parking inside the pousada had plenty of space. We stayed from the 09th, a holiday in SP, through 13/07, and occupancy was low, around 30 to 50%. For the price, it was well worth it. The pousada is spacious, pretty, and peaceful, while still being well located. Our room and bathroom were large, and we had one of the bigger rooms facing the pool. There was furniture and seating to put our things on. The shower worked well with solar heating, and the beds were acceptable. I just missed having a drying rack for wet things, but we made do with the chairs.

We felt right at home and had a lovely stay. The pousada is beautiful and cozy, with lots of trees and well-kept recreation areas. The pools are heated and accessible for children. Special thanks to Marta and Neire, who gave us all the help and support we needed to accommodate my uncle, who uses a wheelchair. The breakfast and portions were delicious. Thank you from the heart for all the care and attention. We’ll definitely be back next year!
