Hotel Pousada do Arcanjo

The staff made us feel looked after from the warm welcome to the friendly goodbye. My dear friend and I were treated like royalty, and the waiting staff were proud to share tips on what to see and how to get there. The rooms were superb, comfortable, colonial in style, and had stunning hillside views. We liked the restaurant so much that we ate there, with varied menus, beautifully prepared dishes, and reasonable prices. Breakfast was a great start to the day, and afternoon tea was served too. The location made it easy and pleasant to walk to the main sights, despite a few steep hills, which we'd been warned about. They even flew the national flag of international guests from the time we arrived, a lovely touch. Nothing was overlooked. For fine hospitality at a reasonable price, Hotel Pousada do Arcanjo is a credit to Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, and Brazil.

The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, good food and wine choices, and accommodating hours, from 5 to 10:30 pm every day. The servers seemed to enjoy making guests happy. We also liked the shuttle, with comfortable new luxury vans that can fit 15 people. It's a pleasant 10-15 minute walk into the center of Ouro Preto, in a charming, safe neighborhood, and there's a salon across the street that my wife and daughter used several times. Breakfast was a treat, with cakes, breads, fresh juices, coffee, teas, eggs, breakfast meats, and fresh fruit. The hotel was impeccably clean. We had two charming rooms, one for us and one for our daughter, and housekeeping was flawless, somehow always taking care of the rooms while we were out. Everyone welcomed us so warmly, especially the professional front desk staff. This hotel is a real gem in beautiful Ouro Preto.

One of the best boutique hotels in Latin America. The rooms were clean, the staff were nice, service was good, and breakfast was excellent.

We enjoyed sitting in the courtyard with tea, biscuits, and cake during afternoon tea in the lounge. The buffet breakfast had an impressive selection of cakes and plenty of other options. The boutique hotel is just outside the center of Ouro Preto, with an easy short walk or a shuttle into town. Staff were friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions. Our room was tastefully furnished in colonial style, and the internet worked well.
