Ouro Preto became the highlight of our trip through Mina’s gerais, and staying here was a big part of that. Fátima is a local, and her cooking is unmatched. Ricardo was a wonderful host, full of knowledge about the town’s history, and pointed us toward things to do and places to eat. What a beautiful, inspiring place. Thank you both!

The sunsets from the top parlor are amazing. This pousada feels like a small museum, from the historic building and the art and artifacts on the walls to the collection of famous guests who have stayed there. If, like many people visiting Ouro Preto, you’re interested in history, this is a great place to stay.

The owner was really nice and helped us find somewhere to eat. We had the best pizza, though I can’t remember the place’s name, so I can’t recommend it by name. He also tried to help us get in touch with other places we wanted to visit outside Ouro Preto. Staying here made the trip feel much more special. Bring bug repellent, though, since there are a lot of mosquitoes in the region.

There’s a welcome and dining area downstairs, with the rooms upstairs. The walls are full of art and colonial character, and the hotel itself is centuries old, so it isn’t modern. A few things have been updated for the 21st century, including the showers, TV, and mini fridge. A really cool colonial hotel.
