Kastel Petrópolis

We asked at reception for a quiet room, but got room 806, right on the Main Street. Cars on the pavement kept us awake all night, and people dragged chairs around the swimming pull area above us at 10:30pm, making an awful racket. It could have been a positive stay if the receptionist had listened and put us in a quiet room at the back of the hotel. Avoid room 806 if you want peace and quiet! The microwave was broken, the floor was very dirty, and the window latch was broken, so the window couldn’t be closed on the 8th floor. Breakfast was nice and brought to the room.

The room felt drab, though the location was good. Breakfast was good too, and came to the room with a smile.

Our room’s broken window let in all the traffic noise, and we were under the swimming pool, where chairs and chaises were dragged around very late at night and very early in the morning. It was noisy as hell. If you’re visiting Petrópolis for some peace and quiet, avoid this place at all costs. There are much better options here for the same price!

The staff were excellent and very attentive, especially the front desk team, whose support was the best I’ve seen in a long, long time. The hotel is still new and unfinished, though. They should have done a better job of cordoning off the areas under construction. No one wants to see workmen in the hotel morning, afternoon, and evening all day, as if they live there.
