Pousada Recanto do Amanhecer

The location is a real plus: there's a restaurant nearby, and the square opposite can be used for parking, though there are a few attendants there. The hosts were friendly, and the place was clean and simple. But the value didn't work for me. I've stayed at two other inns in Porto, Espaço Viana and Pedras do Porto, and this was my third. Pedras do Porto had lower ratings, so I expected this one to be better, but it wasn't. I took a chance because the reviews were so positive, even though the price was higher, and don't think it was worth it. I'd only consider coming back if the price were cut in half, mainly for the location. There were some practical issues too. They only accept PIX, my bathroom door wouldn't close, and there was no complimentary soap in my room. I've never run into that before, even at simpler inns. Room 4 is next to the kitchen, so you can hear some noise from around 6 a.m. And at dawn the room gets quite bright, including from the air conditioner light.

The location is good, close to the center, but I don't think the price is justified. The room I had was tiny and had a cockroach in it. The facilities felt very poor for what they charge: old rooms and equipment, a yellowed minibar, an air conditioner with a really bad smell, and a bathroom that smelled too. The shower was so weak it was hard to get a decent wash. Honestly, I can't see how this inn has such a high rating for what it offers. The experience made me wonder if it's just a hastily put-together place relying on fake reviews to get money from first-time tourists. I'd look for another inn.

Awful place. It felt more like a boarding house than an inn, with tiny rooms, old electrical and plumbing fixtures, and it was dirty and noisy.

I really enjoyed staying here. The rooms were clean and breakfast was excellent. There's a lovely, friendly, well-mannered little girl who lives at the inn. I recommend it.
