Pousada Recanto do Guará

We’ve been coming to Pirinópolis since 1994, usually at least twice a year, and this was easily our worst pousada experience. I would not recommend Pousada Recanto Guará at all. The place feels badly neglected and, honestly, should be shut down. We’ve seen its positive ratings, but understand that it used to be rented out to someone else who treated guests very well. It’s a shame, and I’m glad people can now leave reviews so others can avoid the same disappointment. The price was far too high for what was offered. Even $100.00 a night would have felt expensive. The breakfast was poor, and we even ran out of coffee. Our old, broken mattress left us with bad back pain. There was no air conditioning, the pool had no heater, and the old doors had faulty locks. When I mentioned the air conditioning on arrival, the owner Regina just said, “Why don’t you cancel?” even though Booking doesn’t allow cancellations. The next morning, when we complained, she was very rude and difficult to talk to. She handles guest service herself, and I don’t think she’s suited to this work. This was a very unpleasant stay.

The greenery and the lovely view of Serra de São José, just a short distance away, made this a wonderful place to enjoy nature with your family. It’s a great spot for a weekend break from the big cities and their car and industrial pollution. Truly a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.

We had a peaceful stay under a sky full of stars, and the owners were very welcoming. The room was rustic but comfortable, and breakfast was simple. There’s no internet in the room. A few insects come into the bathroom because of the light, but it wasn’t anything alarming. The stay was worth it.
