Hotel Anajá

Great!

The reception service was awful, and I can't recommend this place. My room was dirty, with hair all over the bathroom and bed, and there was an open drink in the minibar. There were no curtains, so the room got very bright, the air conditioner was noisy, and the towels were really poor. Breakfast was a letdown too, with soggy bread and very little choice. I actually had to come back here to say this was the first time I've stayed at a hotel and had to go eat breakfast at a bakery because the hotel breakfast was impossible to eat. It looked completely different from the photos. The parking is on the next block.

The breakfast and the staff do a lot to make up for the hotel's shortcomings. The homemade cakes, pies, sweets, and coalhada were wonderful, and everyone in reception, the kitchen, and housekeeping was attentive and helpful. The rooms are clean, though the hotel's age makes them look less so. It's an old, cheap place with very basic accommodation. The sheets and towels are thin, old, and stained, and really need replacing. The TV is old too, and the Wi-Fi isn't very good.

I was able to get a discount over the phone, and since I checked in at 23:00, they let me keep the room until 14:30. The staff were helpful and communicated well with each other. Breakfast was good and served during a generous time window, the bed was comfortable, and the Wi-Fi was fast. In room 109, though, the air conditioning, the room next door, and the minibar all made a lot of noise. I had to unplug the minibar. The outlets are an old style, and I moved the desk to find the only one that worked with my phone charger. It was far from the bed. Parking is in a separate building, so getting something from the car takes a while, though there is a valet.
