Hotel Luzeiros São Luis

The view was beautiful! 💙💙💙 The hotel room was super clean and comfortable, and the restaurant was great too. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in Brazil.

The sea view from our junior suite was the only thing that really caught my attention. It’s a new hotel in the beautiful city of Sao Luiz, right on the beach, and the rooms are large with new furniture, but otherwise there’s nothing special about it. There are too many guests and too few workers to help them. The reception is always crowded and feels unwelcoming. With only four elevators for such a huge building, and hotel workers using them all the time, you can wait 10 minutes or more. It wasn’t a good experience despite the nice location and new building. A lot needs to improve, and somebody really needs to speak English. You’re a hotel, after all.

Check-in was painfully slow. It took literally 15 minutes to check in each guest, and after half an hour in line we’d moved just two steps. The email asking us to register in advance didn’t accept a passport number. Supposedly one of the best hotels in Sao Luis, but a nice-looking hotel still needs to get people through reception. The rest of the stay was good. The room was nice, with great views of the ocean and swimming pool. The buffet breakfast was especially good, with plenty of fresh fruit, an omelet and tapioca station, lots of choices, and food being replenished until closing.

We really appreciated how welcoming and efficient the front desk was, and the spacious, comfortable room helped us settle in right away. The sea view and balcony gave us some lovely, relaxing moments, and the design and architecture added to the calm. The swimming pool is great, and there’s plenty of beach too. This pleasant hotel turned out to be a much appreciated alternative after our first choice proved dire. If I visit again, I’ll definitely stay here. A few drawbacks seem common to hotels in Brazil. There’s no iron or ironing board, which can be a problem if you need smart clothes. I hung mine in the damp shower and used the hairdryer before going out. There are no tea or coffee facilities in the room, and water costs extra. Buying a large bottle and chilling it in the spare minibar space worked well. There are also lots of nearby restaurants and bars where you can get coffee. Breakfast was a little limited. The best option was the omelette, cooked to order with a good range of ingredients to add. I’d pair it with tapioca and fresh vegetables. There’s also a good selection of coffee.
