I really can't say I liked the place. My rooms smelled strongly of cigarettes, and the walls had cigar butt stains. There were cockroaches in the sink drain, and the shower was very hard to use. My friend nearly died getting onto her bunk each time because it was about five centimeters from the fan. Spider webs surrounded the bottom bunk, and my bed was very dirty and yellowed. The breakfast cakes, though, were absolutely fantastic, and the staff were very understanding.

The owner was lovely, and the apartment was super clean. It had the best value for money we've had so far. I really liked the living-room feel of the shared space. We only regretted not buying things for a barbecue, since that's an option too.

Set in the lush green mountains of the Atlantic Forest, this is a charming little hotel with a bed-and-breakfast feel. The owners always greet you with a smile and make you feel at home, and they offer great tips for seeing both the area's main attractions and its hidden gems. Breakfast is included and wonderful, with local treats like artisanal cheeses, jams, and bread, plus plenty of fresh local fruit and juices. The mountain views are stunning, and it's a lovely place to relax and get to know Brazil better. Be sure to visit the nearby historic town of São Luiz do Paraitinga.

The price is fairly high, but it was still the least expensive place nearby. It had a beautiful setup, a good breakfast, and even a pool.

Beautiful surroundings, and very close to the old town center. The staff were really friendly and the service was excellent.
