Really great place!

We wanted a quiet farm stay and loved being away from town. The dirt road was part of the appeal, and it’s an easy, gentle trail that any vehicle can manage without trouble. There’s no cell signal and Wi-Fi is only available at reception, but we chose not to ask for the password so we could enjoy the place more. Rogério and Claudia looked after us so warmly during our three days there. They told us about local history, customs, popular outings, and regional food. What we especially enjoyed learning was how old Fazenda São Luiz is and how it was part of the beginnings of São Luiz do Paraitinga. I recommend this pousada to anyone hoping to step away from the daily rush, enjoy the calm of a farm and get close to nature. The colonial-style breakfast is wonderful. Be sure to ask for the coffee with roasted, ground peanuts. It’s delicious.

This is a countryside pousada in the main house of an old farm, with a very natural, rootsy feel. The room and bathroom were clean, and the linens were decent. There are loads of hooks for hanging coolers, towels, pajamas, shirts, and other clothes. The minibar is good, the Wi-Fi is so-so, and breakfast is generous. The room keys are sturdy, but the standout charm is the unusual sliding latch. The location is something you have to make allowances for, since it’s a country inn. There’s no TV in the room, and the bathroom door needs fixing because it won’t close.

Sra. Camila is very friendly and knows a lot about the history. She’s also very attentive to guests’ well-being. The house is very basic, built on packed earth, and dates back to 1876. There’s an odd smell, probably because the building is so old.

Claudia and Rogério, the owners, are welcoming and attentive, and the place itself is wonderful, clean, and well organized. Breakfast was delicious. The historic center is beautiful. We had a good all-you-can-eat lunch at restaurant Sta.Terezinha for R$15,00, then enjoyed a wonderful pizza at night at Bonatto. I highly recommend the hotel and want to come back.
