Hotel Ipanema Inn

The breakfast was genuinely good, and the young man serving there was extremely polite. That’s the one thing that kept this from getting one star. Reception was awful: one well-meaning guy, but the rest were extremely rude. They don't provide cutlery for use in the room. The air conditioner is behind the curtain, so you either have the curtain open with the glass window exposed or closed and blocking the AC. Brilliant. Overall, it isn't worth what they charge, and I wouldn't stay again.

I used to stay at this hotel with my family, but the last visit was awful. I arrived an hour before check-in and asked if it could be brought forward. The receptionist was rude and wouldn't even let us leave our bags until check-in time. Our room had a bathroom door that was misaligned and wouldn't close. I was so upset by the service that I didn't even ask to change rooms. That was my last stay here.

The hotel is small but cozy, well located in central São Paulo near markets, restaurants, pharmacies, and other services. The room was basic, with a minibar, a TV with several channels, a good shower, air conditioning, and a good bed. Breakfast was simple but met expectations. Check-in was quick and cordial. It's a basic but functional hotel with good value, and I recommend it for a short stay of one or two nights.

I can't give this place a rating. I've never stayed in a hotel this bad. The breakfast was average and basic, and the room itself was a huge disappointment. The bedding and towels were yellowed, thin, and practically see-through. The bathroom fixtures and mirror were rusty, the walls were dirty, there were few outlets, and the windows were stuck and wouldn't close. There's one hair dryer at reception for all the floors, no bin in the room, and the curtains and bedspread were filthy. The elevator was old and dirty too. The staff were super polite and professional when I complained, and they aren't to blame. The owner gives no thought to guests. Zero empathy.
