Hostel d' Amelinha

I’ve stayed in other hostels, and this one felt warm and welcoming. It’s simple, but fresh and airy, and I felt comfortable using the facilities. I slept really well. I’ve been to more elaborate places, and had a bad experience elsewhere, but I’d rather not go into that here. I’m leaving with good memories and new friends. Thanks to Hélio and Amelinha for being such wonderful people, and for being so welcoming and helpful.

I picked this place based on its ratings, so I wanted to share my experience to give other travelers a heads-up. The owners are nice and welcome you into their home, and I wasn’t misled by any promises they failed to keep. Still, compared with other guesthouses and hostels, this one fell short. The room was in poor shape, the mattress was extremely hard, and breakfast was just bread, coffee, and milk, with no fruit or biscuits. I don’t understand the high scores on Booking and Facebook. The place has potential, but needs a lot of improvement. Good luck.

The beaches nearby are beautiful, with stunning nature, and we had a lovely stay. The place was clean, cozy, and pleasant, and it was fully adapted to host guests during the pandemic. The owners were attentive and available whenever we needed something. We’d definitely recommend it and come back.

The owners are lovely, and the hostel was airy and very clean. There are several little grocery stores nearby. The beach is about a pleasant 15-minute walk away, and they also offer a shuttle.
