Pousada Cafuné

I can’t recommend it. The room smelled strongly of mold, and I had to keep the fan on the whole time and take allergy medicine. The Wi-Fi was unusable, breakfast was basic with few choices, and several things in the bathroom were broken. There was a bathroom in the room that we couldn’t use, and the bathrooms had no shower enclosures. I ended up leaving two days before the stay was due to end. We’d arranged for my son to go, and he went with his girlfriend last week. It was even worse for them. I’d booked a date, but when I said they were on their way, there was no vacancy. They got mixed up and put him in Acalanto. When they went to the inn, the parking spot was full of water, and they said a guy would remove it the next day, haha. Their room was extremely moldy, so they couldn’t stay and had to find another inn, which cost them extra. Posting pictures of a firepit and pool doesn’t make up for neglecting the basics. The rooms need maintenance, the bathrooms need to be decent, and the damp needs fixing so the mold smell goes away. Paying less isn’t worth it, the experience still costs you.

A few things could be improved. The parking spaces were a bit tricky to maneuver into, the pool looked like it needed cleaning that day, and the mattress wasn’t very comfortable. The bedding smelled dusty, and the shower was cold, though luckily it was a very hot day. These are simple fixes that could make a big difference to guests.

The staff were really polite, and the towels and bed linens were very clean. The room itself was clean too, though it could use more attention to maintenance: the beds are old, the headboard is torn, and the mattress is worn. The bedroom door doesn't close properly, and since it opens out like a window door, there's no curtain. Breakfast was very simple, like something you'd have at home. The pool looked cloudy, which I didn't like.

That trip from Campinas to Pousada Cafuné was worth it. My mom and I already want to come back! We loved the sunset, and we loved the little dog Biro Biro too. Hope he’s doing well there in Socorro. Vivi, Simone, and Sr Marcelo were so lovely, and the service and the inn deserve congratulations. Just one thing, the little road up to the inn needs some work. We had a bit of trouble going both up and down.
