Pousada Sossego

The grounds are lovely, the garden is well kept, and the kitchen and cleaning staff work hard. But I’d come here for dinner, not to stay. Our room had a broken tile patched with A4 paper, a sewage smell, unsafe electrical outlets, and water dripping from the ceiling when it rained. Despite our written request for twin beds two months before booking, that wasn’t arranged. We were offered two other rooms: one had constant noise from the neighboring room’s AC motor on our terrace, and the other smelled of sewage. Neither had mosquito nets. They were only added on the third night, after we’d already had many bites. At night there was no water in the rooms, sometimes until 7:30 am, so on our departure day I had to use the pool shower. We reported everything and were asked to be understanding because it was difficult for them. They gave us a R$50 courtesy. Maybe the change of owners explains it. The Pousada’s best ratings were from before that change. It’s a shame, because the place itself is beautiful.
