I left my experience with Casas da Vila in Trancoso deeply disappointed. The booking terms didn't make the “non-refundable” condition clear, and I only found out about it after completing the reservation. When I contacted the hotel about what seemed to me an obvious mistake, they dismissed me without flexibility or empathy. For a place in the luxury segment, I found that unacceptable. It felt as though questionable booking practices mattered more than treating guests fairly. I'd strongly advise against booking unless you're willing to face hidden conditions and uncooperative management afterward. A shame for a place in an otherwise charming destination like Trancoso.

The accommodations are decent, but some things need attention. The sheets and pillow had holes, and there were a lot of ants and cockroaches at night. I understand that's part of the area, but an inspection by someone who knows how to deal with it could help.

It was such a comfortable, welcoming place, and really helped me unwind. The experience made a lasting impression on me, and I'll definitely come back. All the staff were polite. Most of the other guests are foreigners. I recommend it without hesitation.
