The location worked fine for me. It isn't too far from downtown, and there's a gas station almost next door. I drove everywhere, though, and left my car in the street parking right across from the hotel instead of using its parking. The building is large with decent facilities, and I wouldn't call the place that bad, but it does need maintenance and care. Compared with cheaper hotels I've stayed in around Petrópolis and Juiz de Fora, it doesn't offer as much for the money. Still, it was acceptable. My room was on the sixth floor, with air conditioning, and the air conditioner, fan, minibar, and other things all worked. The room itself was dated, with a CCE TV, if that gives you an idea. The receptionist was kind and attentive. Breakfast was basic but included cakes, French rolls and sliced bread, juice, coffee, milk, margarine, and other items. I thought it was unnecessary to limit each person to one very thin slice of cheese and one of ham.

The beds were filthy when I walked into the room. I showered, then went down to reception to ask for another room, but every room they offered me was in the same condition. I asked for my money back since I'd paid in cash, and they refused.

I wouldn't recommend this place even to my enemy. The atmosphere felt heavy, and the bed linen had a strong smell, like it hadn't been changed or washed in a long time. Neither the shower nor the air conditioning worked. It would take a lot of improvement before I'd consider it okay.

We were six people, and the staff were rude. They gave us one price and then charged another. Room 208 had four beds, but every mattress was so bad that when we lay down, our backs could feel the bed frames. The blankets and pillows smelled musty, the hallway lights outside the room didn't come on, and the toilet wouldn't flush.

I was there for work and wanted a low-cost hotel near my job site with the basics: a towel, a warm shower, and a bed so I could get washed, sleep, and get up early to work again. The fan room I booked met those needs, so I have no complaint about it for that purpose. I paid 130 Reais for the cheapest room, with a ceiling fan. I took some photos so people can see what that room was like and decide if it suits them. I think the lower-priced rooms might not work for people I know. The other option was a room with air conditioning for 160 Reais. I assume those more expensive rooms are in better condition than mine, but that's only a guess. There is no garage, though they say there is rotating parking. Noise could be a problem. Cars and motorcycles pass on the street in front, and CSN is almost opposite the hotel and operates 24 hours a day. I was tired enough to sleep, but if noise keeps you awake, you may not manage it here. I don't know if my room was in the "Economic Area," where the cheaper rooms are, often rented by companies for laborers like me, though with different profiles. If you want a night without loud laughter, raised voices, slamming doors, and other annoying sounds, you could try the air-conditioned rooms. Maybe the guests there behave better. Cleaning was good in my experience, perhaps more than necessary. I stayed four days, and they changed my towels and bedding every day. Nothing to complain about there. Breakfast starts at 06:30hs. There are several thermoses with no labels, which makes it hard to tell what's in them. Nearly all have coffee, and only one has milk. The food is bread, ham, butter, cheese, cake, and fruit, oranges and bananas. That's all, and it was fine for me since my own breakfast at home is much the same.
