The individual cottages give you nice privacy, and the pine lined roads across the grounds are lovely for a walk. It’s a beautiful, quaint hotel in Paro, with good choices for breakfast and dinner. A lovely place to take in Bhutan’s scenery.

The heated beds were a welcome touch, and the hotel has lovely forested grounds with a long history. We heard it was built for the coronation of the fourth king. The rooms are in cottages, so in winter the walk back and forth to reception can be cold and long, especially for older guests like my 60 year old mum. Only a few cottages on the hill have views of Paro, so if that matters, another hotel may be a better choice. The service staff were friendly, though it seemed they were understaffed, perhaps because we visited in the December off season. The rooms were dated but functional and not well maintained. One light didn’t work. We told reception twice on our first night and were told someone would check it, but no one came during our two night stay. We didn’t make an issue of it since we were only there briefly. They also charged extra when we asked for two additional bottles of mineral water, which didn’t seem usual for a 3 star hotel in Bhutan.

Our room was among the pine trees, which made the stay especially enjoyable. The food was amazing, and the staff were friendly and very courteous.

A spacious, well kept hotel with helpful staff, good food, and plenty of room to relax. The spa service was commendable, especially after a trek to the Tiger’s Nest.

The property sits outside the town center in green surroundings, with large grounds and several kinds of accommodation. It had just celebrated its 50th anniversary, yet was meticulously maintained, and the staff gave exceptional service. Affordable shuttles to town were readily available. It’s a worthwhile stay, though vegetarian dining choices may be limited.
