Park Hotel Bhutan

Dinner after a long 12-hour journey was delicious, especially the Emadatsi with rice. We also rested well for a day before beginning our tour, and the hotel is very near the Bhutan south gate entry, which was handy. The welcome was warm: staff checked our passports or IDs, assigned rooms, and served orange juice in the waiting area. Our room was very clean, with shampoo, body wash, hot water, and a plug for a hair dryer. The ground-floor reception is lovely, with cozy lighting and a photo of the royal family, and it’s a nice place to take pictures. Thank༌you༌very much 🫰🏻💕

The worst part was the staff, especially Reemi, the slightly less fair girl who worked in the dining room. She spoke very harshly and acted as if we were eating in her home without paying. We were shocked, since other Bhutanese people we met were friendly and respectful. The rooms were basic, and the bathrooms were horrible. There were no amenities, and if you leave early in the morning, you have to carry your own luggage. We booked through Makemytrip and couldn’t cancel because it was non-refundable. You can reach the hotel by walking through a small market building, and there are shops and cafes nearby, but I’d avoid it if possible since there are other options close by.

The hotel is handy for the exit gate, up a short incline, and also close to the temple, park, and shopping areas. Our room was spacious and faced the road, with AC, a fan, and some in-room refreshments. We stayed one night during our Bhutan trip, but the property needed maintenance and the hotel seemed understaffed. The welcome and hospitality fell short of what we’d experienced elsewhere in Bhutan, and management seemed inefficient. The small lift worked, but it was noisy and not suitable for anyone claustrophobic. Toiletries were limited, with no toothbrush or moisturizer, and the vegetarian food wasn’t good. We had an early flight and they packed breakfast, but it wasn’t satisfying. Having few guests in the off-season shouldn’t mean service drops.

The upper-floor rooms have a great view. It’s a really nice hotel for the price, with plenty to do nearby, and you can walk to food and the market.
