The Four Boutique Hotel

The staff made the stay pleasant: they were warm and helpful from check-in through checkout, and gave us good directions to nearby local markets. But at about Nu. 9,000 a night, the hotel didn't feel like good value. The room wasn't heated enough, which was uncomfortable during colder hours. The 25-liter geyser is impractical: the shower starts warm, then turns cold halfway through. The toilet sits directly in front of the shower in an awkward layout, and the in-house menu has only 5-6 dishes, leaving little choice if you plan to eat there. The view is a definite plus, and hospitality is good, but the comfort and amenities fall short for this price. Better heating, more hot water, and an improved room layout would help.

The staff were great, and they'll decorate a room or arrange a candlelit dinner if you ask for a special occasion. Most rooms have a riverside view, making this an amazing place to stay in Punakha, and I'd definitely recommend it as the best place to stay there. I booked through Make My Trip, but I'd suggest contacting the property directly because they have different room types that aren't all listed on MMT.

We spent several nights here for a workshop, and it was a great place to stay, with a short walk to town. The balconies have superb views, and the food was really good every day, with enough variety to keep it interesting. Staff were excellent and always ready to respond and make the stay more comfortable. The shower is tricky to adjust, but once you get the knack of it, it does the job.

The river valley view from the hotel is beautiful, and you can see Khuruthang town as well as the small market and nearby park. The river itself looks amazing.
