Cresta Lodge Gaborone

I’ve stayed here twice, and it’s generally a very nice, quiet place. One night I arrived late and hungry after the restaurant had closed, but the kitchen made an exception and put together a meal for me. No complaints.

The food was fantastic, and there’s a lovely restaurant and bar with outdoor seating. Staff were friendly and efficient throughout. The hotel has spacious, comfortable modern rooms with tea and coffee, a mini fridge, and a lovely bath. The whole property was clean and well maintained, with a nice pool area and large conference facilities. There’s ample safe parking and a nice coffee shop in the lobby. Absolutely lovely hotel, warm and welcoming. Highly recommended.

The staff were very friendly, but several things need management’s attention. The rooms were okay, though not worth 1,500 pula a night, and the showers were poor or not working. This seems to come up repeatedly in reviews, and I’m not sure management is doing anything about it. Breakfast was very limited, especially if you want healthy choices. There were plenty of sausages, but little or no fresh fruit, not even a banana, and no fresh juice, just sugary water. There was no granola or decent cereal either. I ate dinner there three times. The first night was awful, with raw chicken, while the next two meals were good and acceptable. The Wi-Fi wasn’t proper Wi-Fi: it didn’t work on my iPad or iPhone, and others seemed to have the same problem.

They were happy to accommodate a later check-in and even let me order food from Chatter Restaurant at the airport, so dinner was waiting in our rooms when we arrived. The room was clean and comfortable, with a big bed, lots of pillows, a hot shower with good pressure, and all the needed amenities, including a hairdryer and safe. Room service was great, and the staff were caring and friendly. They checked a few times to see if I was happy or had suggestions, but honestly, I had none. I’ll be back.
