Xtan Ha The Waterfront

We loved reading on the balcony hammock to the sound of the ocean. The rooms were adequate, and when we first arrived years ago, the welcome was lovely. The property is secluded and beautiful. We had to use a water taxi basically every day to go anywhere offsite. It was fun and quite an experience, but necessary.

The grounds were immaculate and the views outstanding. I stopped by and was thoroughly surprised by the delicious cocktails and super service. I didn't stay at the property, so I can't rate the rooms.

It takes a 40-minute bumpy golf cart ride each way to get into town for dinner, but X’tan ha was lovely enough to make that worth it. The place was quiet and I slept well, only disturbed by woodpeckers. The birds were beautiful. I enjoyed the pools, the amazing ocean view, and seeing a stingray while snorkeling right off the deck. Rooms were lovely, with excellent AC, and having plenty of drinking water and coffee was a big plus. It was convenient to be picked up for tours at the dock. The tour they booked through Tuff E Nuff was the best of our trip and well priced. Massages on the beach were private, incredible, and also well priced. I especially liked Ka’kua restaurant, including its Saturday bbq menu. A special thank you to Mayri, who quietly brought me birthday cake with a cute card and sparklers in the morning when my fiancé woke up on his birthday.

X'Tan Ha is a beautiful, well-kept resort, and the pool was great. Getting around is the hard part. It's far from town, and the nearby area doesn't have much: pharmacies, convenience stores, liquor stores, and places to eat are all a distance away. Nothing is within walking distance, so you'll definitely need to rent a golf cart to get around San Pedro Island. I wish the resort had told us before we arrived that the beach was completely covered in sargassum and unusable. It wouldn't have changed our decision to come, but we could have prepared better. The resort had no plan and wasn't doing anything to clean it up.
